JosephJoseph is a 24 year old Civil Servant. Publicly a conformist, privately he engages in any form of escapism from books and films to computer games and role play. He finds Annette extraordinary due to her daring in real life, yet often acts foolishly himself due to a streak of arrogance and possessiveness which he predictably does not recognise. He therefore often overestimates his own abilities and underestimates those in others. He has a heroic self image and the self-appointed position of leader. Adept at the familiar in unfamiliar territory he learns slowly from his mistakes but only if they are pointed out to him. *
